Welcome!
Thank you for visiting my ePortfolio at www.sethmoyer.com! Feel free to explore the different sections. This site was primarily created as a class project, but I have continued to update and maintain it to reflect my current coursework and academic pursuits.
About Me

My name is Seth Moyer. I live in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania, which is a few miles away from State College, PA. State College is home to the University Park campus of the Pennsylvania State University. I am currently enrolled in the College of Communications at Penn State with a major in Media Studies with a focus in Media Effects and a minor in Information Science and Technology (IST).
I chose to major in Media Effects and minor in IST because this combination of subjects reflects my interest and strong points. After graduation, I hope to find employment in a technical field, as a social media expert, or another related field. The communications classes I have taken so far have caused me to become more interested in the academic aspect of media studies. After I have completed my Bachelor's degree, I may go on to pursue a Master's degree on a related subject.
For the past four years I have worked as a dishwasher in a retirement home. This job was the first that taught me how to interact with co-workers and superiors, which is an important skill to have in the workplace.
I also started working as an ITS Lab Consultant at Penn State in summer 2012. I really like this job because it is fairly relaxed, but I am helping people and I get along very well with my co-workers. I was selected as the October 2012 Employee of the Month. October 2012 was only the second month that the award even existed, so I am somewhat proud of this achievement.
I consider myself to be a computer hardware aficionado. I have built and worked on several computers, including my own gaming computer. I also like to stay informed about the latest news in the computer hardware industry. I am currently an editor in the Folding@Home section on the site www.overclock.net with over 8000 posts as of December 2012. Folding@Home is a distributed computing project that is managed by Stanford's Pande Group that simulates protein folding for use in research about diseases such as Alzheimer's, cancer, and influenza. Overclock.net's Folding@Home team is currently #3 in the world. As an editor, I answer general questions about Folding@Home and help to troubleshoot any problems with which other users may need help.
I like photography and consider myself to be an amateur, because there is a lot that I can still learn but I have sold my work in the past. A sample of my work can be found on the "Photography" page. Some of my other hobbies include hanging out with friends, reading, learning about things that interest me, playing video games, running, being outdoors, fiddling with electronic devices, or any combination of those.
